Amazon Blink Mini Camera Review – Smallest Smart Security Camera Ever

The Blink Mini is the organization’s initial step into a wired, indoor surveillance camera. Whether you’re worried about intruders or you want to check on kids and pets when you’re away from home, it’s worth considering an indoor security camera system. By reading this Amazon Blink mini camera review – you will be able to know every pros and cons of the product.

For me, Blink mini worked the best when I am away from home. It’s so easy to understand and user friendly to control the camera.

In case you’re now a fan of Blink’s open-air cameras and need to grow that framework inside, the Mini is an incredible decision.

Simply be cautioned that this camera requires a little membership charge in the event that you need to save your video to the cloud, which additionally denotes the organization’s initial step into paid memberships.

But there is good news also. You will be getting free membership of cloud storage if you buy in 2020.

The free membership offer is be available for 2020 only.

These memberships are much cheaper that anyone can afford, so the Mini stays a useful spending alternative despite them.

The main concern, however, some other spending alternatives offer marginally better value for the money, the Blink Mini is still a great and inexpensive security camera, especially if you already have other Bink cameras.

The mini is so small that if you put that camera in your working table then it is pretty much hard to find it.

This small piece of innovation made our life so secure and easier.

DESIGN

Amazon blink mini camera review

Let’s start with it’s design and build quality.

It’s so Simple, pretty small, and square: The Blink Mini sticks to the basics.

The front of the camera is black like all other cameras but it is covered in a white cube with rounded corners.

It stands on an adjustable stand and comes with two screws, which you can use to mount the camera to a wall or ceiling. You can put your camera anywhere.

The fun part is one of a friend came to my house a few days ago, the camera was on the table and he thought that it is a toy.

This camera is cheaper than other security cameras but its design quality is way more premium than its price range.

If you are willing to buy it than you will be pretty much satisfied with its design structure.

Creators are doing their best by creating these kinds of inexpensive, entry-level security cameras that give you basic monitoring, and Amazon has joined the race with its Blink Mini.

It gives you all of the features that you need but there are a few caveats to this system, including free cloud storage that runs out next year.

But don’t worry about cloud storage pricing. It is also very cheap and if you need free cloud storage then it is a better decision to purchase the blink mini this year.

THE MOBILE APP

The Blink Home Monitor app is very straightforward as well as user friendly.

The default home tab shows your cameras, and you can tap the video icon to jump into a live view or tap the camera icon to grab a single frame

There’s also a “Disarmed” or “Armed” toggle at the bottom for turning your system on or off.

At the settings section, you name the camera, enable or disable motion detection, set activity zones, sensitivity, and clip length.

As an entry-level camera, there’s nothing extraordinary here as far as individual recognition, or savvy alarms, however, you do get Alexa to uphold.

By empowering the Blink SmartHome expertise in my Alexa application, including the Blink Mini, and setting a security PIN, I had the option to tell my Echo “Alexa, advise Blink to arm the Office Cam” and it worked fine.

So if you have any doubt related to its workability with Alexa then I can assure you it will work fine.

So basically, The Amazon Blink Mini comes with a free trial of the Basic subscription plan that gives you 60 days rolling cloud storage or a total of 120 minutes of the video until the end of 2020.

After that point, it will cost you $3 per month or $30 per year for each camera or you can opt for the Plus plan at $10 per month or $100 per year for unlimited cameras.

It is not giving free cloud storage like other high quality and expensive cameras but it will cost you only $3 per month so I think it is pretty much affordable for all kinds of people.

As of now if you have a Blink ecosystem, fortunately, you can add a Blink Mini to your Sync Module and hold your free cloud storage.

But if the Blink Mini is your first camera from Blink, you will require a membership for accessing cloud storage.

Now follow these instruction one by one

  1. Open the Blink home app and click on Add Icon. Then select the mini camera option from the list.
  2. It will ask for a QR code scan that you will find back of the camera. Scan the QR code to go to the next step.
  3. After that, you can set up the camera name for better control.
  4. Now press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. That will reset the old connections and ready for a new connection.
  5. Then, you will see the blue light blinking and the green light is steady.
  6. After that, you can click on the discover device option.
  7. Well, now it will ask to connect to the home wifi network. This is the last step and you are good to go.

PERFORMANCE & VIDEO QUALITY

Amazon blink mini camera review

First of all, I want to share my opinion about the performance of this camera.

This camera is not as good as other premium-quality security cameras but if you don’t want to spend much money on security cameras then this camera is the best fit for you.

I don’t want to spend a lot of money on a security camera rather than I was looking for a cheap one.

I found this camera and after using this for a month I saw that it has everything that I need in a security camera.

Yes, it is not that good compared to other cameras but I am pretty much satisfied with its design, build quality and performance.

So let’s talk about its performance.

Video quality appears to be a little sharper than what I’ve recorded before with my Wyze Cam V2.

Live and captured video was sharp with vibrant color. It is easy to understand everything in the video.

But overexposure areas, like those around lamps, as well as shiny and reflected surfaces, tended to look washed out.

This is something I faced with some earlier Blink cameras, too.

This wasn’t a problem in night vision mode, which provided even illumination and strong contrast.

If you have an Amazon Echo Show smart display, you can check out a live view directly through the display.

The quality of the two-way audio system is far better than I expected it to be. It can catch every sound around the room and I can listen to everything clearly.

To my delight, the voice quality picked up by the camera’s microphone sounded like an HD phone call, though the camera’s speaker was admittedly not as kind to my voice coming through.

Motion detection worked fine for me and gave notifications of activity promptly.

You can increase or decrease detection sensitivity on a scale of 1 to 9.

You can also adjust the re-trigger time—the time after a motion event during which the camera won’t detect motion—so that you have a longer delay between triggers.

STORAGE

Blink Mini comes with a free cloud storage subscription through December 31, 2020.

You can use as much storage as you want for free till that date.

After that, if you want to save videos to the cloud, a Basic subscription fee will cost $3 per month for one camera, and give you 60 days of rolling storage (but only up to two hours of recordings).

You can also pay $30 for a year and you don’t have to worry about the storage again for one year.

A Blink Plus subscription will cost $10 per month, but lets you add unlimited cameras from a single location.

Let’s say if you have 10 cameras then you have to pay only $10 for 10 cameras and the subscription fee will cost you only $1 per camera.

Why should you buy Blink Mini?

The Blink Mini is a practical and smart choice for an indoor security camera, but don’t expect too much from it, at least in its current state.

If you’ve already invested in the Amazon ecosystem, it makes sense to grab the Mini now, knowing that improvements will probably be made sooner than later.

So the topic ” Blink mini camera review” comes to an end. I have tried my best to share my opinions about the camera.

As Blink is owned by Amazon, it is obvious that the Blink Mini would work with Alexa.

You can use your voice to arm and disarm the camera, and if you have an Alexa-enabled smart display, you can view a feed from the camera on that device.

I do like that the Blink Mini has highly customizable motion detection and the detection process work really well according to the price.

The Blink Mini is an effective, neat, and cheap home security camera that works very well.

You get free video cloud storage until 31 March 2021 and the prices for the subscription after that are pretty reasonable.

It lacks some features that it really should have, notably a microSD card slot so you can free yourself of subscription costs completely, but with a high performing video quality and the option of adding a module that can include local video storage at a later date, it’s a very smart choice for you.

I am not telling to buy it, I am only sharing my experiences with this camera and What I have felt good and bad about this camera.

Because when I was going to buy, I couldn’t find any in-depth proper review of blink mini and I was so much confused.

I don’t want you to be the same person and that’s the reason I am writing Amazon Blink mini camera review so that it is easy for you to make a decision.

If I was in your place I will definitely consider it as a cheap and affordable camera that has 70% features that a security camera needs to have.
