Akaso EK7000 Shooting Video features
The video quality is quite good compared to its price, though generally not up to the quality of the latest GoPros. It works perfectly in bright, clear conditions but it doesn’t work well in lower light.
Here’s the full list of its resolutions and corresponding framerates.
AKASO EK7000 action camera features ultra HD 4K video recording.
You can capture 4K 25FPS/2.7K 30FPS/1080P 60FPS video with the sharp and clear video quality.
It is not as stable as GoPros. Obviously, GoPros are higher in price and their quality is good.
But while recording with Akaso ek700 you will feel some stability issues at the beginning.
But after playing some time with this camera you will get used to it.
In my case, if I use the camera with a head mount then the stability works great.
Taking Photos with the Akaso EK7000
You can shoot photos up to 12MP measuring 4608×2592 pixels with an Akaso Ek700 action camera.
The aspect ratio is normally 16:9 which is used for videos as well. You can cut down the size to 4MP. The files come out as standard JPGs and there’s no RAW.
You will have only one field of view in this camera and it’s not wide like GoPros but I am satisfied with the camera quality.
You will see these options below in the photo capturing mode.
You can shoot photos in burst mode as well.
The burst mode shoots a quick sequence of still images. It’s useful for fast-moving action scenes.
The burst mode on the Akaso EK7000 takes 3 photos over the course of 1.5 seconds.
It is pretty well enough as an action camera.
In timelapse mode, you can capture a series of JPG photos.
There’s no timelapse video option that compiles the video in the camera which is a con of this camera.
But You can convert these series of images into a video file from your computer.
All you have to do is collect all the images from the camera to your computer and download a timelapse compiling software and make a video file.
The available choices for the interval between the shots are 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, and 60 seconds.

Akaso ek7000 battery life
So many people concern about the battery life of an action camera before buying it. That’s why you must need to know the details about battery specifications.
Akaso ek7000 comes with 2 1050mAh Batteries.
In general, action cams don’t have a very good battery life.
The Akaso EK7000 sticks to that as well, but I was actually surprised by how well it did.
I ran some tests, and at 4K 25FPS and 1080p 30FPS, I’ve been getting around 1 hour and 25 minutes. For the 4K setting, This camera is above some of its competitors.
In this price range, I don’t think you will find a better battery life option on any other action camera.
It’s not above all cameras in the battery life section but yes it did a pretty good job for me.
If you want to extend more battery life and want to use a longer period of time you can turn off the Wifi and don’t use the mobile app.
Some of you might have a question that “If I don’t use the camera, will the camera use battery?”
The answer is: Like any other camera it will discharge slowly on its own but the camera does not technically use power when it is off.
Akaso ek7000 Mobile App
Its interface looks like the GoPro app, although it doesn’t have quite the same structure.
There’s a preview of what the lens is seeing. You can start and stop recording or take photos. And you can adjust the resolutions and shooting modes and view photos and footage.
It’s not perfect but it mostly worked just fine.
It’s worth mentioning that you have to enable wifi on the camera to use the mobile app.
So here is the process of connecting the Akaso ek7000 with the mobile app
- Download the iSmart DV app to your mobile device from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Turn on the camera, then press the Down button to turn on Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi of your mobile device, connect to the Wi-Fi SSID ‘iCam-AKASO’.
- Enter the password: 1234567890.
- Open the app iSmart DV.
- Tap ‘Add new camera’.
- Tap ‘Wi-Fi Connect’
Recommendations of Memory Cards
This camera doesn’t come with a particular memory card, so you’ll need to pick that up separately. It takes a microSD card.
The instruction manual isn’t helpful enough in recommendations for the SD card. So I’d recommend at least a U1 card, and preferably a U3 or V30 card. It also says that it works with cards up to 32GB, but I’ve put in a 64GB microSD card and had no issues.
They say a 32GB Class 10 MicroSD card is highly recommended for AKASO EK7000 4K Action Camera.
So if you’re looking to pick up a memory card for this camera, the SanDisk Extreme cards offer a good combination of price, availability, and performance.
